Dog Behaviour
Why do dogs tear up their beds?
There are various factors that lead dogs to tear up their beds - from anxiety, boredom, nesting instincts, teething, or lack of exercise.
They might also chew to regulate their temperature, mark their territory, or find comfort.
Bed chewing can also be a way for dogs to express stress or anxiety.
How to keep dogs from destroying their dog beds?
You are going to have to play detective to work out what is triggering the destructive behaviour.
Teething:
If you have a puppy who is teething, they're chewing to relieve their discomfort. The good news is that it typically only lasts between the ages of 4 - 8 months. Ensure they have plenty of chew toys that they can munch on.
Anxiety:
Managing separation anxiety takes patience and persistence. Here are few suggestions.
- Adequate Exercise: Regular dog walks can help reduce behavioural issues such as anxiety and aggression. Dogs love routine - just base the duration and frequency based on your dogs age, breed and physical condition.
- Mental Stimulation: Set-up games which they have to use their brains to figure out the solution (Kong toys, chew-toys, treasure hunts for treats, homemade agility courses). Mental stimulation can really help to reduce destructive behaviours.
- Desensitize / Build Trust You'll Be Back. Your dog needs to learn that you'll return to them...building this trust can take time. Gradually expose the dog to being left alone for short periods can help desensitize a dog. Start with very short separations and gradually increasing the
duration.
Consulting a veterinarian or certified dog behaviorist is recommended for dogs with severe or persistent anxiety.

Which fabric is best for dogs with allergies?
We recommend a Riplock PVC mat.
Atopic allergies are usually caused by particles that are inhaled (mould, pollen, dust mites etc).
For these dogs we recommend our Riplock PVC mats. This fabric will not harbour allergens that may have come off your dog’s fur or paws.
This fabric can be easily cleaned which means irritants are wiped off with a damp cloth or even hosed down and wiped dry for immediate use.
Having an elevated bed can help reduce the buildup of allergens like dust and dander, which can be beneficial for dogs and their
owners with allergies.
Do Chew Proof bed offer Orthopaedic Support?
Yes they do!
Elevated beds (like a hammock-style bed) distribute your dog's weight more evenly across the surface, minimizing pressure on sensitive areas like elbows, shoulders, and hips.
Reduction of pressure on joints alleviates
pain and discomfort, particularly for dogs with joint problems or those prone
to pressure sores. Ultimately this leads
to improved mobility and a happier dog.
Can my Chew Proof bed be used outdoors?
Yes they can be kept outside.
All ChewProof Dog Beds are made with a lightweight Aircraft Grade Aluminium Frame so they won't rust. Each aluminium frame has a 10 year guarantee in a residential setting when you register for the warranty (or 5 years in a commercial environment).
How do I clean the bed?
Simply spray and wipe.
All ChewProof beds are super easy to keep clean because they use non-absorbent, quick drying fabric.
- Hose the bed down or spray with soap and water (or a safe disinfectant).
- Then wipe or leave in the sun to dry.
Will the bed mark my floors?
We've a solution for that...
The rubber feet placed at the end of each leg of the frame are designed to stop the bed from marking your floors. Just remember to install these rubber caps when you are building your bed.
All ChewProof Dog Beds are made with a lightweight Aircraft Grade Aluminium Frame. This means they are super easy to lift and move around - avoiding the need to drag them along the floor.
What if my dog manages to chew up this bed?
ChewProof fabrics and frames are tested to the highest standards and proven to withstand the roughest of treatment – so damage will be extremely rare as these beds are built to last.
- Our Riplock PVC mats come with a 12-month Warranty for any damage caused by your dog (Chewing, Scratching, Digging)
- We also Guarantee the structural integrity of all ChewProof bed frames for 10 years in domestic household settings, and 5 years in commercial environments (e.g. Kennels, Doggy Day Care Centres, Shelters, Rescues and Breeders).
It’s important to us that you and your dog are completely. satisfied, so if your dog can damage the fabric or the frame beyond usual usability, we will send out replacement parts for free or provide a total refund. Cosmetic damages are not covered. All warranty
claims are limited to one free replacement or a total refund, including
shipping costs (if appropriate).
Is there any kind of assembly required for these beds?
Yes, you do need to assemble your ChewProof bed.
Putting your bed together is a simple task that should only take about 10 – 15 minutes.

Shipping and Returns
How long does delivery take?
- We aim to dispatch all orders within 24 hours.
- Deliveries are made by NZ Post within 3 days of dispatch. Shipping to rural areas may take slightly longer.
- Currently we are only shipping to New Zealand addresses.
- For overseas delivery please contact us directly to discuss arrangements.
Can I view the product in person?
Yes - by appointment only. Please contact crosswellk9distributors@gmail.com to arrange an appointment time to view.
Can I pick up my order?
Yes. Please allow 2 - 4 days to process your order, then contact crosswellk9distributors@gmail.com to arrange a suitable collection time.
Do you offer easy returns and exchange?
Yes - we stand by our product warranties and guarantees.
When making a claim, there is no need to return the damaged product however photographic proof and a product purchase order number is required with each claim submission.
